Château de Chambrun dates to the mid 1800’s and is located in Lalande de Pomerol in the Néac village. Their 26 hectares cover a land at the crossroad of the most famous Vineyards (Pétrus, Cheval Blanc, …) and Appellation (Pomerol, Saint Emilion) in the world. The barrel and tank cellars have been totally renovated in 2015 and winemaking techniques have been renewed to welcome wine lovers with quality private visits and tastings.
The Château Moncets estate is their oldest vineyard. It bears the name of the Générale de Moncets who purchased it in 1872. In 2012, the new team of winemakers bought the Chateau Moncets and totally rehabilitated the vines and cellars in order to sustain the vineyard. The property was renamed to Chateau de Chambrun in 2017 but the wine called Chateau Moncets has been preserved with a new label design yet keeping with traditional vinification.
“At the crossroads of the Pomerol and Saint Emilion vineyards, a wine is reborn in the land of the Templars… the Château de Chambrun in Lalande-de-Pomerol.”
The original wine label with the Templars’ Cross has been preserved, the historic symbol of the Pomerol and Lalande-de-Pomerol appellations.
Chateau de Chambrun is best served at slightly chillier than room-temperature, at around 15.5°C. The cool, almost cellar temperature gives the wine more freshness and lift. Young vintages can be decanted for up to 1 hour. This allows the wine to soften and open its perfume. Older vintages might need very little decanting, just enough to remove the sediment. Chateau de Chambrun is best paired with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted braised and grilled dishes. Chateau Chambrun is also good when matched with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms and pasta.
